Pricing & quotes

How much does a new fence cost in Sonoma County?+
Most residential wood fences in Sonoma, Marin, and Napa run between $45 and $90 per linear foot installed, depending on height, materials, terrain, and demo. Vinyl, ornamental iron, and commercial chain link price out differently. We provide free, written estimates with itemized material and labor — call (707) 527-1347 or request a quote and we'll come measure.
Are estimates free?+
Yes. We come to the site, walk the line, talk through materials, and email a written estimate — no charge, no obligation.
Do you require a deposit?+
For residential jobs, we typically collect a deposit at contract signing with the balance due on completion. Commercial and public-works billing follows the contract terms.

Materials & design

Wood vs. vinyl fence — which is better?+
Wood (redwood or cedar) is the North Bay standard: warm, repairable, and roughly 20-25 years of service with stain. Vinyl costs 30-50% more upfront but needs almost no maintenance and holds up well in coastal Marin and sun-exposed Wine Country lots. We install both and will give you a straight comparison for your property.
What wood species do you use?+
Construction-heart redwood is our default for posts, rails, and pickets in this climate. We also build with western red cedar and pressure-treated Douglas fir when the project calls for it.
Can you match an existing fence style?+
Yes. Send a photo when you request a quote and we'll spec materials, height, and post spacing to match.

Permits, property lines & HOAs

Do I need a permit to build a fence?+
In most Sonoma, Marin, and Napa jurisdictions, fences up to 6 feet in a side or rear yard and 3-4 feet in a front yard do not require a permit. Taller fences, retaining walls, and pool enclosures usually do. We'll tell you what your city or county requires before we start.
Who is responsible for locating the property line?+
The property owner. If the line isn't clearly marked, you'll need a survey — we cannot legally guess at a line. We're happy to coordinate with your surveyor.
Do you work with HOAs?+
Often. We can provide drawings, material specs, and color samples for HOA submittal packages.

Service area & scheduling

What areas do you serve?+
Roughly 100 miles from our Santa Rosa yard — Sonoma, Marin, Napa, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt, Solano, and into the greater Bay Area. Temp fence travels farther for the right project.
How long is the wait for a residential install?+
Lead times vary by season. Spring and summer typically run 4-8 weeks from signed contract; fall and winter are usually faster. We'll give you a realistic window when we quote.
How fast can you deliver temporary fencing?+
Most North Bay temp fence requests are on-site within 24-48 hours. Emergency response (fire, flood, utility damage) is often same-day.
